Nigel Farage, leader of the UK's Reform party and an advocate for crypto-friendly policies, has made a strategic investment in Aquis-listed bitcoin (BTC) treasury firm Stack BTC Plc, as the company expands its bitcoin accumulation and business acquisition strategy.

Stack BTC announced Monday that it has completed a £260,000 ($347,000) equity fundraising from strategic investors, including Farage and Blockchain.com. The company issued 5.2 million new ordinary shares priced at £0.05 each as part of the raise.

Following the transaction, Farage holds roughly a 6.3% stake in the firm through his investment vehicle Thorn In The Side Ltd, according to the statement.

The proceeds will support Stack BTC's strategy of establishing a bitcoin treasury reserve while building a portfolio of "high-quality, cash-generative businesses," the company said.

The firm — chaired by Kwasi Kwarteng, the former UK Chancellor of the Exchequer — also disclosed its first bitcoin purchase on Friday, acquiring 21 BTC at an average price of $71,594 per coin ($1.5 million). Kwarteng holds 5.43% of the company.

Stack BTC emerged from the restructuring of a previous digital asset investment vehicle last year and subsequently rebranded to focus on accumulating bitcoin while pursuing business acquisitions. The company trades on the Aquis Stock Exchange under the ticker STAK.

"I am delighted to have become an investor in Stack and lend my support to the team," said Farage, who's also a member of the UK parliament. "London and the UK have historically been the centre of the world's financial markets, and I believe that we can and should be a major global hub for the crypto industry."

Farage's investment reflects his increasingly visible alignment with the crypto industry. The Reform UK leader has sought to position his party as one of the most crypto-friendly political forces in the nation, and the party has embraced crypto assets in political fundraising.

Christopher Harborne, a Thailand-based investor who holds an estimated 12% stake in stablecoin issuer Tether, has donated millions of pounds to Reform UK. Disclosures from the country's Electoral Commission show that Harborne contributed £9 million ($11.9 million) to Reform UK last year, followed by an additional £3 million ($3.9 million) donation in November, according to The Guardian.

The growing role of crypto-linked funding in UK politics has also attracted scrutiny. Several parliamentary committee chairs have pushed for tighter restrictions on crypto-related political donations, arguing that digital assets could complicate transparency rules around political financing and raise potential foreign interference risks.
